lubrication of propane bottle threads

I know one doesn't lubricate the threads on acetylene or oxygen bottles but is it permissible on propane ?

The advice given by BOC in their customer joining literature was NOT to use any grease or oil on any of the threaded fittings, fuel gas or otherwise; it is quite clear. I imagine a trace of graphite might be acceptable, that is not excluded.

Just clean the threads if needed, I would use a brass wire brush. Do not lubricate, no need to.

I have heard that any roughness (burr or bit of grease) in the oxygen pipe will catch fire due to the friction with the flow of the oxygen heating the rough spot to its ignition temperature.

Actually the danger with oxygen is that it will oxidise oil or grease very quickly, causing spontaneous combustion, and possible explosion.

Gentlemen I am aware of the dangers with oxygen       I did ask about any problems with propane
