Hi i have recently puchased a geared head mill and was wondering what is the best way to lift it onto its stand ?
I have an engine hoist that will handle the weight but i am unsure of where to lift the machine as there are no lifting points on it .
It is a chineese made geared head ,dovetail columb type and weghts approx 350kg
[HM46] not sure of what make/ model it is equivalent to in the UK.
I was thinking of tapping the mounting holes in the base that are used to bolt it to the stand and are approx 5/8″ dia Then welding up a cradle out of 2″x2″x1/8 SHS with a lifting point above the head and mounting it to the base .
The only other option i can see is to wrap a sling around the swivel bracket behind the head where it slides up /down the columb but i am concerned that something will break !
Any thoughts !!!!
