I have sent a letter to Santa, (via the North Pole), for a Christmas gift to upgrade my workshop. Could not decide on a lathe, vertical mill, horizontal mill or a shaper, so asked for one of these. After all I have been a "good boy" for most of the year. Just hope that he has enough room in his sleigh.

        Paul.

One of These I think, maybe I should have built a bigger workshop last summer.

That shaper advert tells a story

Unfortunately modern 'elf 'n' safety' has struck and short of putting it in its own sealed room and operating with long sticks its been deemed to dangerous to use in our machine shop, so we are offering to sale.

They'll all be in private hands in a few years

Might be a tad too big to make a Stuarts kit engine, but nice.

I recall seeing John Carpenter's film "The Thing" about an horrific beast that gradually acquired features from the various people and animals it had preyed upon. It looks as if one of those things got loose in a workshop! I can see the advantage of having a multipurpose jobbing machine like that on a ship but it's always going to be a niche product and impossible to acquire spares /accessories for. Must weigh a few tonnes too…..

… It's worth browsing those images.
