An old lathe recently appeared on ebay

      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lathe-old-lathe-/261000750571?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item3cc4db65eb

The names on the makers plate do not appear on Lathes.co.uk (I have advised Tony G) and the only reference on the web is an old advert

      http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/File:Im1876POWor-Wheat7.jpg

which looks to include an illustration of the lathe.

Are they manufacturers or a trader? If the latter does anyone recognise the lathe as being badged by anyone else?

Perhaps a Mancunian with some interest in local history could dig up a bit more info.

It isn't me who bought it – just wanting to see if we can collect historical info for the record. This migth be the last of its species or maybe you are using one this evening yourself.

Possibly just a rebadged Britannia lathe sold by a reseller

          http://www.lathes.co.uk/britannia/index.html

Some of those old victorian companies made vast numbers of lathes around WW1

British industrial output for the Empire and Dominions was quite mind boggling
