As some know I am building the Farm Boy hit-and-miss engine. This is something I should have thought of earlier in the build but I got carried away making it.

What type of ignition system is best for this type of build, any recommendations and sources for one to suit. I don’t really want to send abroad for one unless I have to.

In that case you will have to consider IOW as being mainland UK and go with Minimag.

Bought one of the cheap Chinese ones off eBay, had poor results, then bought the mini Mag. After a couple of turns either a finger over the carb intake to choke? It starts and runs very well.

It may pay you to get a few different types of o ring to start with, as the first one I used only lasted a very short time. I replaced it and now it is fine. Others seem to have had this issue also.

I run mine on Methanol with good results

              Good luck.

Is this one the correct one to use Type MCL-1-KIT

                  Hi Dalboy

Yes, thats correct, found that opening the gap up a bit on the spark plug worked well, also the carb needle setting was a fiddle to get the right position to run, but needed very little alteration from cold start to run.
