I think I've seen one of these before but I can't remember where…..anyone know what it is? Something to do with sheet metal working perhaps? 6.25" diameter, cast iron  or steel and 1.8 kilos.

Not a sheet metal related related suggestion but………..It's not one half of a CVT's pulley is it (looking at the shape, the key way, and the ring around the edge – belt wear mark?)

It does look very like one half of a variable speed belt drive. Agricultural maybe? I have 4 on my car but a little bit more sophisticated looking.

Looks very similar to one of the Vari Speed pulleys you might find in a Bridgeport Mill.

Looks unbalanced so I can't imagine it travelling at any speed plus with it being cast iron I'd guess it would be to heavy – maybe as the OP is point towards it's a sheet metal forming wheel from a configurable roll forming machine of some sort

Er, prototype for the Nikkor 6mm fisheye lens? smiley

Looks a bit like a plate used by a Spinner to form flat plates into cones or dishes and similar objects.

Keyway and through hole suggest it is a driven component on a shaft, so perhaps the vari-speed is the most likely.

Unless it's the foot off one of these.
