Hey all, I have a treadle grinder/ polisher for sale but want to identify the maker/ manufacturer before I sell it as it would be useful info in the sale listing. I am just cleaning it up at the moment after use in my workshop.

Note the crown logo on the brace, anybody know the maker? thanks

James, the spindle looks like Goodell Pratt, but the treadle doesn't! May be a combination of various bits.

Thanks Andy. Does seem to be a bit of a mish mash of bits. I have heard of a make of treadle called Queen, perhaps that is the maker seeing there is a crown sign on it located on the brace. Any ideas how much this thing is worth? I won't say how much I paid for it because it makes me cry every time haha. It is a beautiful thing though I must say. I used it as a stand to mount a electric polishing motor but the polishing wheels ended up too high for me to work comfortably. I am only 5 foot 6. I have made a new stand for my polishing motor now so this beauty needs to go. I will put the cash towards more tools for the workshop

It's too pretty to use, I would have this in my hall or living room.

                .

                James,

I'm not certain, but I think that 'crown' is probably a 'coronet'

Have a look at this site: **LINK**

… it would be worth you contacting him for an opinion.

'Rare and Collectible' is a phrase that springs to mind.

                .

Edit: That treadle unit would look good with one of these atop:

Another example of this machine, I am certain that the polishing and grinding attachment are correct for the treade now and not meant for a lathe or something else like a sewing machine.

100% sure the grinding attachment is goodell pratt now after long searching on the interwebs thanks Andy Holdaway.

It is a glass lathe, for making Cut Glass items, decanters, tumblers, etc.
