20140430_123016.jpgHi, my wife’s work colleague has asked if I can get a value for the locomotive pictured as her partner had passed away.

Why they have tasked me is a mystery as I know absolutely nothing about locomotives!

I’m therefore hoping someone on the forum can help. I’ll list the information she gave me:-

LMS London north eastern railway Bassect locomotive hybrid pre war model.

I;m sure you'll need more information so if you can tell me what you would need and how to obtain it I would be very gratefull.

      Thanks

It has a likeness to a Gresley B17.

It looks like a Bassett-Lowke LNER 2-6-0 that someone has repainted and stuck a different chimney on:

Can't help with a value but the fact that it may not be completely original and has been repainted will lower the value.

That sounds just right, her husbands friend "finished it off" and used a different chimney saying to call it a hybrid.

It gives me a starting point to try and value it.

Thank you very much for your help

Yes it looks like the Bassett Lowke model, I had one in the 1940s, I think it came in kit form for self assembly which my dad put together.

                A good link here
