I have a quey regarding Harold Hall's End Mill Sharpening Accessory from his book 'Tool and Cutter Sharpening'. I should first profess to some ignorance on this matter being new to the hobby. But you people helped me with how to anchor the Grinding Rest adjacent to the Grinder – I used magnets.
The question is: Should I cut a slit in the Bearings as well as in the Front and Rear Bearing supports? These have slits with screws that tighten them up but the bearings do not have slits, as shown in the book. Looking at the general arrangement on Page 102 of the book, it does look as if a slit is there – also, I see from some photos of the device, it does appear as if it is slitted.
Another minor point is that he says to fit the bearings to the Front and Rear Supports 'using two part resin adhesive' – I suppose he means Araldite?
