I have a hankering to build a hardness tester, I recall seeing one described in Model engineer back in the late 80's by Dave Lammas, unfortunately I no longer have access to those and was wondering if anyone had a copy of the articles that they could share.

If you cannot get hold of the articles, Blackgates catalogue includes a range of David Lammas' tools and they list (or at least listed, my catalogue is the 2015 edition) the instructions and drawings as well as the casting set.

Roderick Jenkins described it in MEW in SEPT 2016

I think he may have been about to say that but got shy.

              regards Martin

                Hello Gray,

I have these copies so in the absence of any other arrangements, could slowly copy them into jpg's- there's a lot of it!

If interested, please pm me in the first instance via the mag then we can discuss timescales etc. FWIW, I won't do hard copy – it will take too long.

Also, are you aware that Rod Jenkins in MEW245 reports on building it.

Oops, looks like I've made a mistake or two in respect of Rod Jenkins. Sorry Rod.

                    Hi guys,

I was part way through posting when I got called away and when I got back and hit the post button Brian had already said what I had. Blackgates reproduce Dave Lammas's original articles as the instructions so I guess they have the copyright permission to do that. I really enjoyed making mine and the Blackgates castings were nice qualitysmiley

                    Stay well,

                    Rod
