        .

Bit of a heads up should anyone be interested.

There is a broadcast about Guy Martin working as a pit crew member for the Williams F1 team that happened a few weeks ago. C4 8:00pm tonight.

F1 ain't everyones cup of tea.!

Guy Martin ain't everyones cup of tea either.! – Personally I like his can-do, will have a go at anything, don't really care what anyone else thinks down to earth attitude. i.e. he's a do-er not a talker.

Perhaps inevitable, when you look at jimmy's avatar

Very interesting program, they get paid well but two hundred days a year away from home would be a killer for most of us.

                        I missed it 😂

I was at Spa and watched him do a couple of practice wheel changes from the other side of the pit wall on the Thursday evening. He looked really nervous.

I'll watch it on catch up. Thanks for the heads up.

                        Steve.

As usual Guy's infectious grin and laugh conquers all. He does a good job and rises to the challange.

                            .

Guy always reminds me of an enthusiastic puppy.

Just seemingly wanting to get involved in everything possible, not afraid to get dirty (and always manages somehow to do so) while wanting to do so to the best of his ability and please everyone.

At one point they mention his mobility problems due to his history of crashes but he makes up for it with his cat-like reactions.

He seems to have a blend of at times not taking himself as a person too seriously yet at the same time is very serious and committed to tasks. – I think he enjoys his life. smiley

                            I enjoyed the broadcast.

Reckon he's the 2017 version of Fred Dibnah; without the steam but with the same enthusiasm for life & all things mechanical.

Give him time. laugh ………… Saw him once expressing great interest in steam engines. Would not surprise me if one day he expanded on that into 'hands on.'

Also he has a RR Merlin engine at home that he fires up and plays with. ………………… Because he can. smiley

Here is the answer to Peter Shaw's current query – a few more than 500HP to play with, and you could charge admission.

I guess also he has balls of steel. The top boys in the TT are averaging over 130mph these days – Michael Dumlop almost 134 – and Guy managed almost 130. Good he's officially retired now – you couldn't ban the TT, NW200 etc but many good men die out there, racing on roads with unforgiving walls.

I find it hard to watch these days….

The TT has about a 1% kill rate for competitors with another 1% or so giving life changing injuries – think it was 3 dead this year; catch is that especially for TT the Island attracts too many wannabes with the money to afford high power bike but often without the ability to ride them without putting other road users at risk.

Loved the Merlin video and the casual way he re-tells the story of it 'taking off' in his workshop!

Here's another one worth watching, Mark Higgins in a Subaru doing the 37.7mile Snaefell mountain course at an avg speed of 128.73mph

as mentioned above, appendages of steel.
