I think that you can use a low melting point alloy called "Cerro Matrix" which expands when it solidifies. That's what my FiL, who was a grinding expert, used for wheel dressers.
I made one from a piece of silver steel which I drilled the end deeper than the diamond but a loose fit. I dropped the diamond in with some flux and with it held down with a titanium pin I silver soldered over the diamond with a low temperature silver solder. After it had cooled I ground back the end with a champher till the tip was sticking out. The body of the diamond which was still held by the solder was holding the diamond in situ. Hope this helps.
