Good afternoon. does anyone have the drawing/ article from John Wildings book " tools for the clockmaker and repairer " giving details of the finger plate they could copy or e.mail to me. I have the ones from Stan Bray and Commander Barker /GHT but have heard this one has other features and wish to see if these would be worthwhile incorporating.

      Many thanks

      BK

Here's a **LINK** to that one.

This is mine, I didn't use plans I just made it up as I went along.

Vic – I really like that! There seem there might be a few extra features that I don't appreciate?

I combined ideas from several designs. It has some nice features I think. I happened to have some M6 stainless studs with a hex socket in the end so I used one of those for the post with a socket set in the base to lock it in place so it's easily removed. The finger grooves make it very comfortable for hand held use but it could of course be clamped in a vice. As an alternative there are slots cut into both sides for step clamps. One of the arms has a Vee in the bottom together with several sizes of drill bushes for cross drilling. The V in the base was cut with a small end mill and then a Vee cutter at the same setting as the hole was drilled to ensure accuracy. These things are often a "work in progress" as you add new ideas/features. Thinking about it I've been meaning to drill and tap a some holes in the side for a fence!

Let's see you finger plates guys.
