Friend of mine has inherited this little Exe lathe from his late brother and wantsit to go to a good home, and would therefore like a rough idea as to a fair price . It looks in good condition, so has anyone a rough idea please. No stand or motor unfortunately.
Hello Bazyle, I looked on ebay straightaway, didnt notice it !. Thanks for the tip. My friend is computer literate, but he wont use ebay, why I dont know , not even for info .
I'd say at over £250 the one on ebay is rather overpriced though it has a stand etc. A Drummond which is better known, on stand, went for only £150 last week. Interesting to a collector or Exeter Museum if they haven't got one.
I suspect the Churchill Cub advertised on here was a much better option at £250 and probably even worth spending some money on. A real lathe rather than ……. I am not sure what to call the exe..
I think that's kindly put Ian. Looks like the Cub has sold. Not surprisingly really. Every now and again I get the urge to really refurb something like a Cub but have to slap my wrists and say no and never look at the add again. Trouble is there is something nice about geared head real lathes and few are that small.
