Hi engineers,
can anyone tell me what has happened to the DRO suppliers who were advertising in ME regularly until 4 or 5 months ago.

EMSI.systems

I have tried the above web site and a google search on that name to no avail.

Any ideas.

The company was EMS (International) Ltd & the company is shown as being still active. As the Companies House data also shows directors, it turns out that I know one of them so gave them a ring on a number I found for EMS (International) Ltd 0116 279 3035

The lady I talked to said that they ceased trading under that name at the end of February this year, but that the DRO equipment is still available from the main group company Advanced Machine Tool Services North West Ltd (AMTS NW Ltd). The website is currently being re-developed. They have a Facebook presence, or ring on the number above and speak to Michael Highley for more information. He was out of the office when I rang, so I didn't get to talk further about the current situation (or gossip about times past ! ).

I know Michael as we both worked at Broadbent Machine Tools in the early '80s – he was a fitter then & I was an electrician. I was made redundant the first week back after Christmas in January 1983 & my last contact with Michael (as a supplier to my last employment with AMTS) was probably more than 15 years ago.

I was just looking up ems when I came across this, That’s good to know I have their systems on my mill and lathe they have been very reliable but it’s good to know the manufacturer still exists.

AMTMS NW were considerably more expensive that the other UK suppliers when I was looking for a DRO for my lathe at the beginning of the year so make sure you price/quality match…

Don't know if this helps but according to some of the paperwork I got the parent company is here http://www.electronicaems.com/about.php

They say they have a UK distributor but I haven't worked out how to find the details from their website.

I tried buying directly from this company but they refused to deal with me as they had an importer as you mentioned, as stated above EMS.

The reason I went to the company directly was I read of a chap who bought x2 EMC14 heads directly and with the postage it was LESS than the price of a single over here.

I was really hoping that by now (5 years later) that prices would have really come down but they havent.
