ebay’s inconsistent presentation of prices

Clicked on it … and the item is listed at £8.76 not £7.30

… That’ll be the VAT rearing its ugly head

The discounted offers seem to be a discount on some sellers prices before Ebay add the Vat to it, Michael – I have seen the same on several items, but it does just seem to be sellers whose origin is outside the UK where Ebay applies the Vat. Offers from genuinely based in the UK sellers appear to be a discount on the Vat inclusive price, as was the case before the recent changes to Vat enforcement.

Still, any discount is a good discount to me.

Yes, I do understand ‘how it works’ Nigel

What irritated/amused me was the way in which the eMail [conveniently?] omitted any reference to the VAT element … Thus, of course, making the invitation to make an offer look more attractive.

Sloppy work, or clever advertising ?
