I'm interested in the internal sizes of these connections and am seeking opinions.

Does the velocity of feedwater have an influence? Using smaller internal diameters for fittings should make the water travel faster. Is this useful in overcoming the resistance caused by boiler pressure?

Smaller hole, harder to push the water through.

Pipework systems in industry seem to be designed for ~5m/sec. Too fast gives too much pressure drop, too slow lets any sediment settle out. I daresay there is a lot of leeway.
