Well here it is nearly finished been a few interesting weeks making this.

When i make the next one i will silver solder the boiler tubes in much neater.

The rest i will defiantly Tig weld i am lucky to have the use of a 350 industrial Tig Welder that will run at over 220 amps is what it seems to get good welds and penetration.

I can't wait to build another one i was so afraid at first every step was worried i might do it wrong.

At each stage i have taken to boiler inspectors so they could check at each stage found them very helpful.

I hope to fit front bush i have now made for super heater then i can fit the stays and get it pressure tested.

Started on the Regulator going to use cheese type in a 7/8 copper tube i am hoping its all in line so i dont have to use linkages as suggested.

My boiler is just an inch bigger than standard taper boiler i think this will give me the clearance i will need (i hope)

fingers crossed to see if pressure test goes ok

          Ron

Well Ron, if you do as good a job with the stays as it looks you have with the rest of the build, I don't think you'll have any problems at all with the pressure test.

very pleased to see someone else having a go! When you make the next you might be well soldering the tubes and tig the rest so that you can get them out if ever needed, that's what ive found best. You will need to run at top amps, hope its water cooled !!

                Congratulations Ron,

The first photo you showed of the tubes didn't flatter you welding skills. I'm please it's turned out well.

Consulting the inspectors at each stage is good advice for anyone building a first boiler.

Thank you Neil and totally agree about tig welded pipes I would never try Tig welding pipes again will silver solder much neater.

I do think for the rest of the boiler get really good penetration with the Tig welder.

The only problem you need a very good Tig as in some places running 260 280 amps.

The Eastwood could only run ten mins before problems just not enough power.

Very lucky I could use my son's 350 amp industrial Tig but it was over £5000

Looking forward to steam test the weekend fingers crossed till after.

                  Regards Ron

Wow, that's a pretty good result and very impressive. I'd love to think I'd be able to make as good a job first time round if I ever attempted it but I doubt it! You must have learnt a few things quickly. Well done!
