I know the Astra is a great and rare machine but it's just not big enough for me. I thought maybe someone might have a mill gathering dust and want to free up some space or add the dual horizontal/vertical milling that the Astra offers.
Link to machine page on Lathes.co.uk – this one has the knuckle type vertical head not the larger one from the Zeromatic. http://www.lathes.co.uk/astra/
It comes with the 1" horizontal mill spindle and the 2mt vertical milling head along with a selection of horizontal milling cutters and vertical end mills etc. and a handy rapid feed handle on the table which is great. Comes with the makers stand.
I'm waiting on some new bearings for the motor and a new main drive belt, but its currently running fine with the old ones.
Condition is second to none, there are a few marks on the paintwork and some marks on the table from general use but mechanically this is superb well adjusted and hardly worn. No drill/slot/hacksaw marks etc. and all the steel surfaces are clean, bright and free from stains or rust etc.
I'm looking for something like a Chester 626, Warco VMC, Elliott Omnimill, Toolco VM28 etc. that sort of mini knee mill (but not quite as mini as the Astra knee mill!!!!) – The Boxford VM30 has no quill for drilling so I'd rather avoid them, and they are perhaps edging towards as small as I'd like to go.
Open to offers with cash adjustment either way depending on what you might have. I'll be getting it valued and sold on Lathes.co.uk in a week or so otherwise.
I just thought it was worth an ask here. I'm located in Doncaster.
Many thanks,
