Hi guys, trotted off to South Yorkshire at the weekend in the campervan, primary mission the Doncaster Show of course, which I thoroughly enjoyed as expected. Pulled in a clamber all over Conisbrough Castle Friday afternoon, however whilst my head was stuck in my Philips Truckers Atlas I spotted the nearby South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, I had previously visited Elvington on one of their Thunder Days, but must confess had not spotted this one, sited in a corner of an enormous shopping / leisure park with big lake, site of former RAF Doncaster, http://www.southyorkshireaircraftmuseum.org.uk , Dakota Way, Airborne Road, Lakeside, Doncaster DN4 7FB, well worth a visit, plenty of full size, especially helicopters, lord knows how many indoor aircraft & engines, some cockpits available to try for size, workshops open & endless rooms full of related items, I also have to say a world centre of excellence for sales of Airfix kits especially their newer 1:24 th scale jobs, Mosquito, Typhoon, F15 Eagle anyone? I can foresee the day when this retirement lark gets completely out of hand, cheers Bob.
