Another way to do this is to solder a new ball onto a small shaft and apply very fine grinding past or burnishing cream and lap it as you would a car valve then replace the old ball with a new one after cleaning out
I've used that technique on hydraulic systems running up to 720bar. Now here's a thing. I wonder if such an arrangement would be more likely to leak with more pressure, or less pressure?! Anyone care to hazard a guess?
