Yet the same pedantic logic dictated radio since Jodrell Bank doesnt have cameras, it has radio telescopes a plenty. Hence the confusion on my part.

So, Michael G, you're telling us that radio photons are intrinsically different from the higher frequency ones used in optical astronomy?

Hard to justify unless you base it on detector type, which could merely be showing how unimaginative humans are in their detector designs.

Sorry Chaps, I'm not going to get drawn into debate

My initial response to fizzy was meant to highlight a simple, logical, distinction.

Astrophotography is generally accepted as 'optical' … even if allowed to extend a little above and below the visible spectrum.

Anyone who attends the advertised 'workshop' in the expectation of learning about Radio Astronomy will, I am very sure, find that expectation unfounded.

Hi all, having added the Radio Telescope to my list of things to 'see & do' when I stumbled upon it with the sun shining into the dish on a mission to somewhere else in mid 1960s ( Norton Dommi 88 ) , I finally made it there for the guided tour in summer 2017, nothing prepares you for the sheer size, however for me it was the 2 house size white boxes which elevate the dish & are actually the (only one owner from new guv) gun turret traversing gearboxes off a WW2 battleship, absolutely bang on & with all the indoor displays of rocket science, never seen so many digital readouts in one place, highly recommended.
