Hello Kevin, Here are the gears for metric pitches. They will suit you if your lead-screw is 8 TPI.

          Regards, John

Kevin,.. you can download the program for calculating the change gear if pitch of the lead screw and a set of change gear is known and the threading size is selected to create threads.

Go to this link –> **LINK** and download the program –> NthreadsP

You might find some charts on one of the South Bend lathe sites, yahoo group or even the SB section on Home Shop Machinist forum. Pretty sure as Hercus copied SB to a tee the gearing would be the same.

Hercus are still in business and still reconditioning the 260s so they could probably tell you. And there is a very enthusiastic fellow selling parts for the older Herci who might be able to help too. Here **LINK**

This chart for gearbox and changewheel lathes may help, as well as Jens links.

You need a 18t or 45t stud gear. A idler gear. usually 80t on South Bend clones. and a 60t screw gear.
