I just got off the phone to Mitutoyo UK, and they gave plenty of the latest edition of their Metrology Handbook, It costs about £31 including VAT (and maybe shipping? Sorry, I was distracted during the conversation by some geese arguing outside my window!).
The nice lady said to just send an email to the [email protected] address and they’ll raise a PO and yadda, yadda, yadda.
It’s a bit of a kerfuffle I suppose but since you can’t order it from the online shop at mitutoyo.co.uk (or at least I can’t, even whilst logged in; every time I go to check out it says my basket is empty), if you want it you’d need to do it the old-fashioned way (well, not the really old-fashioned way, like sending a postal order or something).
I’ll not be ordering mine until the end of the month and payday, so I may be doing myself a disfavour by announcing this here; the lady said there was plenty of stock but “plenty” is a relative term and might not account for a sudden rush of orders from a bunch of men* in sheds.
But eh, virtue being it’s own reward and all that, I figured, people on here might want to know.
Oh and as an aside. The Mitutoyo UK repair department are very, very helpful. If you have something Mitutoyo, in need of fixing or servicing, they’ll do their level best to help. That’s been my experience anyway.
*no misogyny intended Julie, I reckon you either already have a copy, or have no need of it, since the knowledge is probably already in your enviably efficient cognitive apparatus 😄
