Hello, I am Mark Noel who you may have encountered as a contributor to the esteemed MEW and ME&W magazines. My interests are currently centred on making instrumentation to fly on kites. I am particularly focussed on 3D printing, engineering design and general ‘gadgeteering’, while occasionally helping the Domestic Godess with her dolls’ house projects.

Welcome to the party Mark, I thought your name seemed familiar. You will be amongst friends here. Best wishes, Noel.

Hello to you. I’d certainly be very interested to hear about instrumentation for kites, sounds fascinating.

              Hi Howard,

Perhaps I should expand a little more on my interests, which include making seismometers for detecting global earthquakes (about 400 ‘quakes so far), dabbling in electronics, designing in Alibre and printing using my Prusa MK4. Both design and 3D printing have become all-consuming with both tools in almost daily use. I recently sold my Myford mill and lathe, downsizing to a Proxxon PD400 and now searching for a small quality mill. I have built and am now testing a module that fits my big delta kite recording GPS coordinates, barometric altitude, temperature and (soon I hope!) airspeed.

I have three more articles awaiting publication in ME&W, none of which involve steam (sorry!) and which are a bit bananas yet hopefully of interest to readers.

I wish I had retired straight after school!

              Mark
