As I'm new to the forum, I thoght I had better post my first query here!

I have a Chester model B, I've had it from new in 2000. It's always leaked oil from the gearbox, but last week it decided to empty completely in one day!

I contacted Chester, ordered a new oil-seal (for the input shaft' D' ), from where it was profusely leaking.

I also ordered the washer that goes on the oil-seal cover (curiously called 'oil-seal board' in the parts list.)

Having spoken with Chester, it appeared to simply be a matter of undoing the 3 screws on the cover (at the belt-box end) withdrawing the cover & seal etc. , & replacing the seal.

This may be the case with later models, but mine has an integral collar on the shaft, this prevents removal of the cover.

It now appears that I need to entirely strip down the gearbox to carry out a simple task.

Does anyone out there know better, or has anyone done this before?
