Dave ….I would have thought that if the centre joint was made in the standard way with a tab on the rear coupling rod fitting into a fork on the front coupling rod then this would automatically allow for plenty of up and down movement. The limits of the up and down movement is dictated by the hornblocks and springs so should be quite easy to measure. Of course there should not be any lateral movement at this joint.
