I have a LUX milling machine to which I would like to fit a power drive in order to raise and lower the head, [I get weary turning the handle ]

There was a post on this forum some time ago where some guy used a cordless drill for this, but it must have been some drill because my mill just laughed at me when I tried that. Is there a way of fitting a motor, perhaps using a reduction drive unit ? Have any of you ever done this ? and if so, how ?

Any ideas welcome. I believe some of the later mills have this feature.

      Thanks for any assistance.indecision

Very crude but works very well

a parvalux 24vdc motor with a big reduction gearbox runs at about 1 rpm

Thanks Ian, that was quick indeed !

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a parvalux motor and where do I look for one ?

What about the gearbox, is that a separate unit ?

Just search on eBay for parvalux motors with gearbox and the voltage you want

the gearbox is coaxial with these

but you can get right angled box’s too

Just to clarify, "Parvalux" is the name of a motor manufacturer.

This is the seller that i bought mine from

                  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-PARVALUX-24V-DC-Geared-Motor-0-8A-93-RPM-0-96Nm-11W-H7FL-PM45-68-0010-CONT/324209316550?hash=item4b7c6192c6:g:kaIAAOSwUIle9H01

and in my first post i meant 1 rev per second not per minute

                      Hi Ian,

Forgot to ask, how did you arrange your 24v supply ? Where did you get it from ?
