This isn't yet a "work in progress" but it might become one. I was having a clear up of the workshop this morning and found this hiding behind stuff. I acquired it as part of a bequest and it was found in the attic of my late friends house. I know nothing of its origins, however it looks distinctly home made and dates I suppose from about 100 years ago. I think it may well have had a flywheel originally and it certainly looks like it could work. I wonder if it derived from plans in ME. Any thoughts?

Could one slot be for the flywheel and the other for a pully wheel?
