I need to make an adaptor to pressure test my loco boiler. The safety valve has a 26tpi thread.

Would this be Brass or Cycle ? Both have 26 tpi, brass is 55 deg. cycle 60

PURELY a guess, but B S Brass would be my choice.

Can you cut pieces of bar with each of the threads to use as a gauge?

1/4 BSF is 26 tpi, is Whit thread form same as B S B, if that is any help.

After many years of reading ME through the heyday of designs by Martin Evans, Don Young etc, I have never seen a BSC thread specified for a steam application. Always Brass.

Thanks. I thought it probably would be brass but I thought I'd check.
