Wanted: Plan for loco screw regulator

Hi,

I need to make a regulator for my 3 1/2" loco and have decided to do a screw regulator instead of the original disc regulator. I don't have a plan for one and was hoping someone might have a design for one that they wouldn't mind sharing.

The outer tube needs to be no bigger than 1/2". The hole in the bush at the backhead is 1/2". The loco has no dome and the steam inlet will be through a series of small holes in the outer tube.

An info on the best approach or where to get a plan from would be appreciated.

Good choice Greg. You could scale down the screw regulator used in the Simplex.

Hi Greg

I have just looked in the Princess Marina book and that is a disc in tube. Robroy and William use the same regulator which has a 3/8 whit thread in a 5/8 tube would have to be scale down for your application. Hope this helps.

A bit like this ??? May need to adjust the sizes a little this is off a 3 1/2 firefly

Thanks Bob and Clive, you've given me exactly what I needed. With the exception of size and a dome inlet pipe the Simplex and Firefly reg designs are the same.

Hi Duncan, thanks for the info, but I don't have those ones, just a limited selection.

I'm all sorted now. Thanks everyone. Here's where my boiler is at. I'm currently making stays.
