Hi I am new to this forum, so some explanation – I am an artist / designer, I have invented and built a prototype of a new project I have. But I need some help. It took my hands a week to recover so that I was able to work again !! So, I need someone who will be able to help make two sorts of parts for me. The following requirements:

      1. Stainless rod with cross drilled holes, shaped stainless bar with a channel and two holes

      2. Construction of a clamp of hardened steel or HSS – similar in design to a toolmaker's clamp – this will need to have holes pre-drilled two of which will need threads in them (as the toolmaker's vice).

I made my part out of a 2" toolmaker's vice and it works fine. But as I said above making another will cost me dearly in terms of damage to my hands.

This is a project that will be sold, so payment for the work will not be a problem.

      I hope you can help

      Thanks for reading

      Colin

                  Thanks Lofty
I gathered that ) But the basic requirements are quite simple and could be made form drawings supplied by me.
It is the sawing and filing that ruins my hands. There is also quite a bit of cross drilling of small diameter SS cylinders that I found really tricky to do with a 30 year old hand drill and a vice !!
So any help would be much appreciated
Look forward to hearing from you

I am adjusting the design of my prototype and I need a facility of turning my toolmakers clamp by about 6 – 8 degrees. I have some drawings and can't seem to work out how to upload an image to this post.

What I have done is extend one half of the toolmakers clamp to make a block the same width of the two halves, this will allow me to incorporate the turning facility, just need an elegant solution to that.

                    kind regards

                    Colin

Colin, to post a photo, go to the green line at the top of the page, click on albums. You can transfer photos to there from your computer, but you will need to reduce them to 640 x 480 (a common size). Once you have an album you can transfer them to here by clicking on the camera in the reply box. Someone else can tell you about transfers from Photobucket etc. Ian S C Ps I would not use HSS for a clamp, it won't take too much pressure and it will shatter.

Thanks for that – and the comment about HSS. I know nothing of steels etc, that is why I am here )

Will try to add images later
