Looking for a little help I can get hold of thick plate in 7075 and 7020 in fact I have quite a bit, but I'm trying to source some 7075, 6mm plate and 1/2 in plate, however not large sizes probably buy 1m x 100mm couple of length of each I can get away with smaller lengths they are to machine 50×70 components from, no dims are critical just this sort of thickness's.

any help would be much appreciated

I use Metalfast for aluminium products, they will cut to size if required, or ask about offcuts.

I also use Metalfast (or ThyssenKrupp as they are now known) but have recently started using Shropshire Stainless & Aluminium http://www.ssaltd.net . Not sure whether they will deal without an account, but they are very keenly priced on sawn plate.

I've used them both in the past and very good the are, but neither do 7075 or 2014 in 6mm or 1/4 plate.

Another good supplier is the Aluminium wharehouse, but again they don't do the above.

Have you tried these? I used them in the distant past.

Odd, Metalfast list 2014 in 6mm and 1/4" and 7075 in 6mm in their stocklist. If they hadn't I wouldn't have wasted my time posting. Maybe they're telling porkies?

Does this come under the description of 'shate'? http://www.raaltd.com/alu_plate.htm

As a matter of interest for all concerned:

Up to 6mm (excluding foil or shim) is designated "Sheet"

                        Above 6mm is designated "Plate"

Perhaps the web site need updating, when I rang them and Smiths 10mm was the best they could do in the sizes I wanted, anyhow I've sorted it for now, I sliced a couple of bits off a lump of 3" plate I have, it will get me away until I get supply.
