        Hi All

I live in Melbourne Victoria and would be pleased to organise a meeting of like minded souls interested in model and workshop engineering,

Maybe every month or so? Please PM me if you are interested.

A forum member from other states and cities may also like to organise a meet?

        Regards
        John

Erm what happened to the local club MSMEE

A couple of months ago when I was looking in the area I found a reference to people meeting regualarly but informally in a restaurant, I thought connected with MSMEE but I don't see that anymore.

I'm going to be out there later this year so interested to make contact with the locals.

                Hi Bazyle

The MSMEE meeting is still held the second Friday evening of the month at Tooronga in a hall central Melbourne. Starting at about 8PM but most people get there around 7.30 to chat. It is quite an old club, Neville Shute the author, aircraft engineer and model maker was a member in the 1950's but it goes back a lot further than that.

The meeting is semi-formal with a chair:
Maybe 15 minutes of general business and News announcements, then most of the time a speaker on a facet of engineering from industry, Followed by "Models on the table" where various members show a project they are working on or have made. if it is too big to bring a PowerPoint or Video is shown. Then Coffee or tea and biscuits. The meeting normally finishes rather late! Visitors are welcome.

There is also an informal convivial fork and talk meeting at a local pub on differing days.

Alas the website is not being maintained.

Once you know the dates of your trip drop me a line and I will confirm.

There are other groups around Melbourne also.

                Regards
                John

Thanks. That was the bit I was thinking of. It seemed like a good idea and have suggested it to our committee.

                    Hi Bazyle

If you just want a night out and a good natter then yes, The hardest part for the club committee is arranging good non member speakers for the main meeting, the committee do a good job. some of the talks have been outstanding.

I am also involved in a hacker group and a Men's shed.

                    Regards
                    John

I guess I should have realised with Melbourne covering as much area as London there would be quite a few clubs, and with plenty of room for some interesting tracks. I seem to have timed it wrong for any proper club evenings but might get to Box Hill for their invitation day on the 6th Sept, and one of Tullamarine or SLSV for the Sunday public running.
See a lot of club websites are sort of on hold still.

                        Hi Bazyle

The Melbourne society of experimental engineers meets in the evening starting at about 7PM till 10+ every second Friday of the month at Tooronga.

Will You be in Melbourne at that time? Its about 10K from Box Hill. If transport is a problem I could assist.

If You PM me with the dates when you are here I will find out what is on that may be of interest.

                        Regards
                        John
