This is a Junior hacksaw with the unique feature that the whole 6" inch blade turns when the handle is turned. Normal pinned blades can be used once one half of the pins has been removed.

This is achieved by having an endless string wound around the 2 knurled or splined bobbins.

The tubular frame is marked with;

Many thanks for that Michael, mine does say Clary Machine Works on it but there is some damage to the 'a' in Clary making it difficult to read.

Jon, Maybe I've described it wrongly, it does look more like a coping saw; are coping saw blades available in 6" inch? All of mine are longer.

Many thanks for your detective work on the Jones Cable Saw Michael, I'm no woodworker but the advantages over a normal coping saw are obvious. I'm quite encouraged to use it if some woodworking or intricate sheet metal working crops up.
