Hello everyone
I'm a beginner when it comes to interpreting technical drawings (and machining) so my apologies if this is a stupid question.
I am currently working on the hemingway kits rear tool post. The base casting has a hole for the plunger, and it appears to me that the bottom of the hole is M8 and threaded. I can't for the life of me figure out why it is threaded, or what is inserted into this thread. I presumed the plunger spring went into the bottom of the casting, and was kept in place by virtue of the fact that the casting sits on the cross feed table, but I am now wondering whether something is threaded into the hole to stop the spring dropping out if you remove the tool post form the table.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
