Gentlemen; I have recently purchased an Invicta 1M shaping machine, for which I have no information whatsoever.Lathes.co.uk claims that the "M" range were all identical design, but looking at the photos on their website (in my opinion) this is not the case. The 1M is bolted onto a stand with the motor in the stand/base housing. Each side of the base has a door to give access to the motor and the belt. It does have a tilting box table with a pin dropping down sitting on a platform cast into the base to support the box.

If anyone has any information about this machine that they would be willing to share with me, or can point me in the right direction, I would love to hear from you – thanks in anticipation

Have you had a look at the Alba /Elliott pages. There seems to have been some badge engineering even back then.

Thank you Yngvar F. My machine is very similar to the Alba 1A on the Lathes.co,uk/alba page – with the black background to the photo. The only obvious difference to me is the indicator needle hangs down on the other side of the head.

At the moment mine does not have an on/off switch on the front of the stand. In fact it doesn't have an on/off switch at all. Plug it in and it runs. Will have to update the wiring completely.

Ady, I cannot offer any photos at the moment as I have already part stripped it to remove 1/2 ton of embedded c**p. Will post some later.

              Thanks for your posts.

P.S. having had a further look at the colour photos – which I had not done earlier – I would say that it is effectively identical to the Alba 1A apart from the two tongues which protrude from the back of the head are much shorter on mine – possibly they have been cut off for some reason. The paint colours are very similar as well.

Rik, excellent looking machine. Don't think mine will ever be quite as good as that. what paint did you use? Brush finish or spray?

Thank you Brian. I brush painted it using an expensive new brush purchased special for the job. The grey paint is Crown Solo one coat gloss and the shade is "Silver Mine" – only its not silver, its ornery grey!

The red is Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint. Suprisingly – to me anyway – this paint does not have the hammer effect I have come to expect from Hammerite. Good luck and enjoy.

Assuming you're still on topic wink I can tell you're very proud of that Rik ….. and justifiably so I might add. Super job!
