That's cheap postage for a big lathe all the way from Nigeria.

Over the last couple of months there has been a continuous flow of the Amadeal mini lathes listed by newly registered zero feedback sellers at around half or less of the Amadeal prices. Last week or two these seem to be stopping or have been blocked.

Usual ploy, Buy it Now with instant payment required, Paypal only, Listed as though a UK named location yet shipping from outside the UK in a very short lead time. Some have even had the Amadeal name still left in the description. You ask a question and get no reply. I reported everyone I managed to see but Ebay still took its time in cancelling them such that quite a few were sold. I am quite sure that Harry from Amadeal must have reported them as well. Ebay and Paypal must be continuosly having to initiate refunds.

If you searched " mini lathes" then completed items you will see some of them.

I have a couple of Ebay accounts and actually bought two of these on one of them and left negative feedback as a scam.

FYI – you can only do this on a PC I think, have not managed to find a way of doing this on a phone or tablet. On the PC you hit BIN and somewhere in the right column you have payment option other. You then have the option to mark as payment sent. Once you do this you can leave feedback. You dont see this option on the ipad or phone thru' an App. Couldnt do it opening Ebay via safari on the ipad either, you still only got the option requiring instant payment. Maybe there is a way on the tablet which some Ebay guru can sort?

I didn't see the original advert back in May, but possibly the same lathe, or by strange coincidence something very similar, appeared back on eBay yesterday,…………

Listed at £4,100 BIN (or best offer) not an auction, collection was possible, or delivery £370, Paypal listed a a payment method but he then said he wouldn't take it, payment by cash on collection or bank transfer, and if it was cash on collection he wanted £2,000 deposit at the time the auction ended.

The seller had 30 sales (actually I think all purchases), over a year ago so zero % feedback.

The M300 was immaculate, and actually probably worth £7-8,000 at least, not £4,100. So why not put it to auction, and find the highest bidder?

I tested him on price, and he said he would accept the asking price, £4,100, delivered! – but payment by bank transfer………..

I then asked for a collection price, but only if I could pay with Paypal and get the protection from eBay, and after some toing or froing I established he wouldn't take Paypal at all, 'because of their charges'.

He said he had had another offer of £3,750 delivered! (but payment by bank transfer).

He gave me lots of further excuses, and the listing has now ended.

I hope that the bloke that offered that gets to enjoy his lathe………..

Hi All

A mate just had the following scam thrown at him, very cunning. He did not fall for it but I guess many will.

He has a company that as is the law is registered with corporate affairs. Anyone can look up a company and see if they are registered and until when, the review date and also get the ABN the Australian business number and address details.

The Scam is to look for companies nearing renewal and ask for a renewal fee. Banking on the fact that a good citizen will want to renew ASAP not wanting to have an unregistered company. I guess they use some sort of trawling software to get the data.

Then out goes the email to you >>>>>>>>

The email looks genuine and has working proper links back to the government site, it looks normal and you can check your status as they did, All is OK until you press the pay button. If you fall for it the money will go into the malefactors account. Checking the link address will include a deceptive name that appears to be a government address.
