I bought this small incomplete lathe for £2 at an autojumble and wondered what it was used for?

Numbers on the front M.O.S. D.M.T.6 2214

On end of the bed it says UJG.

It seems to have been a quality tool in its time.

Looks like a watch makers lathe, but I expect I’m wrong
