Anybody know a good source for the 25mm dia. plastic ball as used in the grinding rest in Harold Hall’s excellent ‘Tool and Cutter Sharpening’ book?  I guess steel and or Al alloy would do.

          Hi
when I made my rest ( see my album ) I got  my ball from Chronos.
part no pn25 25 mm dia 6mm thread.

I got four and used 3 to replace the broken handles on my drill press.
          cost me £ 3.91 for 4

          hope this helps.

            Hi there,

I made mine with a stainless steel ball handle intended for kitchen cupboards, I bought it from Homebase and it comes with a 6mm threaded hole  It was just perfect and available locally.

I’m sure that other diy  sources such a B&Q sell them.  Much better than the plastic version and they are available in different sizes.
