Hi all (particularly in the UK)

I am a recent convert to loco model engineering and this site so any helpful advice is always welcome. I know all the caveats of boiler making, having worked with hydraulics and pneumatic systems all my working life, but I am looking for information on model locomotive boiler design. My current projects are a gauge 1 loco and a 3 1/2" Evening Star. The boiler for Evening Star will probably bought, but I would like to make a boiler for the gauge 1. Doing this will give me a better understanding of the workings of the boiler.

Final design is no problem, I was a machine tool designer (AutoCad, Inventor), so have the were with all to create a manufacturing model and drawings. I just need to see what changes I need to make to the model drawings I am working to, to make the design current.

I have searched through this forum and the net numerous times but cannot find anything that really helps. Question and answer on various topics is not what I am after, as per the forum, its a detailed start to finish design through to build.

          Hi,

I cannot help with information about UK model boilers but can give you a link to the boiler codes for copper and steel model boilers in Australia which I believe are built to much higher standards. These codes specify materials, sizes and construction requirements for an amateur to build a model boiler.

I have recently built a Gauge 1 loco which in my opinion has a truly outstanding steam generating boiler. It is well known in Gauge 1 circles as the "JVR type C". I can wholeheartedly recommend this very simply made boiler which can be used with either spirit or gas fuel. Mine is spirit fired and easily outperforms my gas fired Gauge 1 boilers. You may find the information you require by googling , otherwise you could PM me and I will dig out the information that you require.

I have designed several successful boilers but im not sure of what you are asking?
