I've got an Autoloc chuck, but mounted on MT2 taper it looks out of proportion, so I'm considering buying ER25. Could someone measure one for me, length and diameter of the body? Don't want to find it's that same size and I can't find anything on the interweb.

      Thanks

ER25 Overall length body + closing nut is 49mm. Body dia 32mm, nut dia 42mm. Looks neat on an MT2 and quite small on MT3.   I have MT2 for the lathe and MT3 for the mill.

My Autolock is Overall length 66mm, dia 44mm, nut is same dia as body, on MT3 it looks OK but they look a bit odd on MT2

I agree about the Autolock; mine has a damping ring which is said to improve its stability.

If you were to make your own ER chuck you would have some control over the dimensions.

This is a *** LINK *** to Iscar's site to a table of sizes for ER chucks on various MT shanks, hope it helps.

                Duncan,

This is a link to a Rego Fix document that details the ER series cavity and nut dimensions. Not quite what you are looking for but it may be of use to you and others. I found it by a chance posting over on PM as I had not found any such reference by searching.

Thanks chaps, especially for the Iscar link. Looks like I'm spending more money! I have to have 3/8 BSW drawbar, so Chronos looks like it. Just don't tell SWMBO.

Hi Duncan, have a look at this link **LINK**
This one appears to be identical to the one supplied with my Emco FB2 many years ago, it is indeed very compact and works extremely well — I also have a Clarkson which has the threaded support collar rarely used except with larger cutters that may pull out of an ER collet if side cutting. I would research a little and ask the questions or maybe look on the Emco suppliers web site to see if they still supply them.

                      John,
trouble is I have a 3/8 BSW captive drawbar and the hole down the spout isn't big enough for M10. All my other stuff is 3/8 as well, so changing not attractive even if possible.
                      thanks anyway
