      Hi All

I am looking for a little help from those who have changed thier Spindle and spindle bearings to the new Myford supplied P bronze bearings and hardened Spindle. I have 2 issues that concern me.

      1. The new spindle does not have a slot/half hole for the 25 tooth gear to accept the locking grubscrew. Am I correct in assuming i have to Drill and tap that myself? How is this best done? Do I install the gear and choose a new point and theen drill and tap leaving the old tapping? Is it best done with the spindle installed in the lathe, with a hand drill or out on the drill press?

      2. I had to add 2 sheets of paper to all four points on the bearing journals that is over and above the Myford supplied shims which seems odd to me. Now on the front bearing (closed to the chuck) it seems to pump air in to the oil hole (in the bearing Journal) rather than it drain away through the bearing. What can be done to stop this?

      Any help is apprieciated.

      Alastair
