I'm ready to commission some nameplates for my Polly Engineering 5" gauge 0-6-0 orensterin & Koppel. With diane Carney not supplying etched plates until spring 2014 at the earliest, I'm wondering what other suppliers are around for nameplates?

I'm aware that Polly Engineering can supply them, but would like to consider options.

      Any thoughts much appreciated.

          Mike,

Try Steve Sparrow at http://www.steamplates.co.uk. Sizes from 1" x 1/2" to full size.

Consider using PCB photo etch spray, if you can find a UV lightbox and a laser printer to make the positives. Not as sharp as the 'professional' ones and take a bit of practice, but you can get good results if not 'gold medal' quality.

This is an old thread, but I'm trying to find a nameplate producer. I've emailed Peter's Plates and Name.Plates but didn't get any replies. Does anyone know if these have gone out of business? Any recommendation for a supplier would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the above replies. I have already tried Nameplates…..no reply. I'll give Steamplates a try, but they want dimensions etc before quoting and I don't know what they will be. Thanks Adam, I'll pm you if no response from the others.

You could try Guilplates – I've just used them for some works plates. No website but see **LINK** Very reasonable prices.

I much doubt if any manufacturer can quote a price if they don't know what size the end product is going to be

Prices per letter or per inch (mm) are not the norm for this type of item.

Thanks Dennis, I might give them a ring.

Brian, I would have thought a company making these things all the time, would have some idea as to the size for nameplates for a 3.5in gauge Britannia if I told them which plates I want. All I want to know at this stage is (a) can they do them and (b) a ball park figure. I'll get in touch with them and see if they can help.

Thanks for your help anyway. I'm a bit surprised that no one on this forum has built the 3.5in Brit. I've had no responses so far on another thread. Would like to chat with someone who has completed this model.

No problem, I know for myself I generally need an X & Y dimension to get a ball park as I don't just do plates all the time but I have some guide prices for rough sizes.

I have my grandfathers 3 1/2" Brit so in this case can go away and measure that up if that is what you were after. If you have questions on the loco I've had his apart in the past so can try help there.
