              Clogs,

              yes

The woodworking machines I have are an Emco Star bought in the '70s, plus a router kit a few years ago.

I did all the shelves using the Emco, and incidently it was used to make all the patterns when we did our own casting at Esswex Development, the hobby shop I had in SA.

              Can't help on spindle moulders.

The Emco was responsible for this, when I lost concentration one day.

              Close shave or what.

Soft skin and circular saw dont mix

Geoff – Now work starts on the Austin Seven body.

Sorry I'm a bit late to the party.

Here is a solution that worked for me some years ago. It is cheap, and requires minimal carpentry skills (I've moved on a bit since). The drawer bottoms have held up well with minimal sagging. The system provided quick and easy access to the drawer contents.

Here is the frame. The upright sheets are 15mm chipboard. The frame is made from 2×1 sawn, so no precision there!

Here are the drawers. The drawers are made from 2×1 sawn, which are joined together by butt joints, a screw, and some glue. The drawers are around 500mm square. The drawer bottoms are 6mm mdf, screwed to the drawer sides. The drawers (trays?) just slide on 2×1 sawn.

                Here it is in use.

Whatever materials you use be sure to use full extension ot overtravel type ball bearing drawer slides. That gives you full unobstructed access to the contents of the drawer.

Nice to see everybody spelling drawer correctly, draw is one of my pet irritations.

Referring to my post on making from 2mm aluminium sheet – I made some drawers for the cabinet of my EMCO 14D lathe – they have lots of unused space/volume in the cabinet, and placing often used tooling close at hand is alway good..

It is a neat way of making drawers, easy to size, do not take up structural space, sturdy, etc. And no Brown Dust..

The cabinet was also modified on the left and right to create cupboards..

Photo of original without drawers etc..

                      unpacking.jpg

Added drawers and cupboard doors – the front panels of the cabinet left and right were cut out with a plasma cutter and shelves added, then the doors.
