Yes, model aero engine crancase, shiney brass bit is a venturi carb, other casting on the nose is the adjustable contact breaker bracket that allowed you to retard or advance the timing.

              Spark ignition 2-stroke.

Thank you so much for the speedy answers. This has been mystifying me for 2 years. This is such an informative forum. I don't have an interest in aero modelling so it has to go on Ebay I'm afraid. Thanks again for the answers.

Please don't expect a very high price for it, without all the other parts it can't run.

Ha ha. No, I don't expect to retire on the proceeds but it would be criminal to lock it away in a drawer or worse, throw it away. I am raising money for the Heart Foundation so everything helps.

Funny enough you may get a decent price for it as all the other bits could be made by a collector, it is usually the cast crankcase that most don't like to carve from solid.

Would certainly help if you knew the actual engine. Maybe ask on Model Engine Maker Forum as there are a lot more aero engine enthusiasts there or drop an e-mail to Adrain via his site

I have also altered the thread title which may get a few more who know their engines looking in.

Thank you Jason, I haven't quite got the hang of posting. I can't believe the pictures ever appeared! I will try the link you suggest.

I contacted one of the "Motor Boys" and he says it is an early Atom Minor Mk1 to Westbury's design. Bulkhead mounting as per the one on the left with the central part cut from solid rather than using a casting. Westbury's own engine in the middle.
