I've just blown the fuse on the front panel of my conquest super lathe. I can see the fuse is F rated but can't read the current. Does any know what size fuse is required.

Personally, I think a phone call to Chester should get the required info, but maybe this thread on a similar(?) machine might help.

Hi Eric, you should have a ratings plate somewhere, which should tell you the amps that it takes. I have the standard Conquest lathe, and the ratings plate on mine is on the motor cover at the back of the machine.

I think these machines are very similar, and mine has a 5 amp fuse fitted.

                Regards Nick.

That all seems very logical yes

                  1.6A < 5A < 10A … in all the right places.

Hi MichaelG, I suppose I should have said it is a F5/250V 6 x 30mm (1/4" x 1-1/4&quot glass cartridge fuse, but I guess it's electrical characteristics are the same as the one you've linked too.

                    Regards Nick.

You can get 500 5A fuses for a few quid on ebay

They'll be carrying you out in a box before you get through them

I use a cartridge fuse plug on my old blows-more-often AEI motor

Means you stress a 10p part instead of £100 of gear

                        Fine, Nick yes

… I only posted that particular link because it properly described the electrical characteristics.

I've just called Chester and they said a 13amp fuse would be ok. seems a bit high as the motor on my WM14 mill is protected with a 2amp fuse.

not done it yet, the link you posted was to this forum posting.

Arc Euro sell fuses dor the C2 and C3 lathes (Which is what your Chester Conquest is; a Sieg )

They shpuld be able to advise you, and supply what you meed.

For a motor that is reported to draw 1.6 Amps, a 2 Amp might not withstand the start up surge, but asl Ian or Ketan at Arc.

                            Howard,
