Hi Daniel. I will have a look. It was vibrating a bit. It might have worked loose.

      Cheers

I removed the top cover but there is nothing hiding in there.

I also had a look in the control box, there is a ribbon cable that goes from the digital display to a small circuit board and that looks ok?

This is the circuit diagram that came with it.

        No signs of a tacho?

          Hi Brian,

Can you post a photo of the top of the spindle ?

          With cover removed.

          I'm watching this space.

          HTH,

          Daniel

ERM i put it all back together there really was nothing. Just the motor and the casting top!

I think its generated by the filter somehow?

Just spotted that there is an induction head, maybe that's something to look for by following the wires. Too bleary eyed now and enjoying a Dads day beer beer

              Will try tomorrow

                Hi Bri,

I would remain convinced, for the moment, that the tacho reading is more dynamic.

Can you post some photos of the general gubbins ?

                Hoping to help,

                ATB,

                Daniel

                  Hello Daniel,

It looks like you were correct. The motor is mounted on a plate and underneath is the disk and counter unit.

Running at high speed has sent all the grease outwards and into the unit.

                  Thanks for your help.

                  Brian

On my WM18 I altered the position of the counter unit as in photo. Mike.

Thats a good idea Mike. I will probably do the same to mine.

For now i am up and running again.

                      Cheers

Putting a cold arbor into a warm quill would cause this problem. As the quill cools, it shrinks onto the arbor.

                        Probably already said!

MT tapers don't need a lot of end load to grip. Too much and they do become hard to remove.

                        Howard.

                          Great news Brian.

                          Glad you got it sorted.
