PS. I have recently installed a crane in my garage and was thinking of taking some pictures and posting them for you regarding your interchangeable heads on this machine. I have been very busy but will try and get it done if you still have the lifting problem.

      Mark,

Yes, I would appreciate that [when you have time]

I have purchased a tidy-looking motorised hoist, but it's "intended" to be fixed to a 45mm square tube … I'm seeking inspiration as to how to adapt this to travel X-Y [I have 'universal steel beams' supporting the roof for one axis]

        For info.

I have an early model [2.4i] of the Wi-Spy, from MetaGeek, which should serve as a basic interference detector.

        … Should be interesting.

For info. [not for debate, please]

Here are some 'interference' examples from the MetaGeek site:

You would do better to test with an am radio receiver on long medium and short. Past that in areas where there may be problems life isn't that simple.

I think I have a set of drawings (can't remember if I saved them or not). You are welcome to them if you want them. I move a J&S 540 about with it among other heavy stuff. The main beam and channel are 8 inch and the carriage is all 4 inch channel. Rollers are plain bearings 'cos I'm tight…..

                    Thanks Mark,

That's pretty much what I had in mind; but it would be a great help if you could let me have your drawings.

… You should already have my eMail address.

A couple of notes about 'TN'

… It's all beginning to make sense now.

                      This pagehttp://www.idref.fr/151499225

gives some details of the Technicum neuchâtelois (Le Locle – La Chaux-de-Fonds)

and a fine looking 'Technical College' it was **LINK** https://goo.gl/images/9gEVpO

                      .

The rating plate on the pantograph motor [in the base of the machine] identifies the manufacturer as the 'School of Electrical Engineering' at said Technical College.

                      image.jpeg

                      .

I therefore think it reasonable to assume that the pantograph machine was built by the College, as a commercial venture … Rather like some of the spin-off business conducted by Cambridge.
