      1981 film by Ken Burns, about the Brooklyn Bridge; recently shown on PBS America [which is on UK FreeView Channel 94, in our region].

      It's worth keeping an eye on this channel.

      +1 even though I haven't watched it yet! I think it's part of a series: they've broadcast similar on the Boston Underground Railway and the building of Penn Station NY – both were very watchable.

      Only thing that jars slightly is an 'all invented in America' tendency. The rest of the world doesn't seem to have done anything technical! Reminded me of the running joke in Star Trek where Mr Chekov constantly claims that all modern developments were first done in Russia, a reference to Soviet propaganda trying to big up the achievements of communism. Strange to see US programming doing it when they have so many genuine achievements to brag about.
